Summaries of ongoing projects (English & Swedish - 128 Kb)

The Swedish National Energy Administration

RESEARCH PROGRAMME

Emissions and air pollution from combustion of biomass

For further inforation contact Irene Wrande Swedish National Energy Administration - email: irene.wrande@energimyndigheten.se

This report consists of summaries of the research projects supported by funding from the Swedish Energy Programe. This activity is one of many contributing to Sweden's sustainable energy future system. It is accepted that in future biomass will be an important element of this system, but at the same time this must not result in any deterioration of the environment or risk to health.

The first period of the programme runs from 2000 to 2003. The objective is to contribute in various ways to improving the underlying knowledge base and to develop tools for physical planning, for monitoring of airborne emissions and for monitoring of air quality in connection with gasification and combustion of ftiels for electricity and heat supply. All types of fuels will be covered: biofuels, oil, coal, gas, refuse etc. Initially, work is concentrated on small-scale biomass combustion up to 10 MW.

The work of the programme includes:
