Based on the Internet transmissions, local and regional energy management agencies and other relevant actors in the EU and Candidate Countries can organize 'media-conferences' in their region, inviting local decision makers and/or final energy consumers to their premises for targeted discussions.
A media-conference implies a meeting at local or national level based on the Internet transmission from a Brussels event. It may also include an interactive Internet Chat with Commission officials on the topics of the event. A media-conference allows people from one region or nation to discuss presentations and discussions from a European event. It also allows input from a local or national event to the European event. This enables interested energy and transport actors to bring Community energy and transport policies closer to local decision-makers and citizens of the country and let them participate in the formulation of future Community policies and activities at local and regional levels.
It will save energy, money and environment allowing almost an unlimited number of Europeans to take part in the Community events. Also in the case of Candidate Countries, the organisation of media-conferences offers a very cost-efficient opportunity for actors such as national, regional and local energy agencies, Commission delegations and other similar actors to participate.
