Case Study: Evaluating energy efficiency campaigns targeted at children: towards a best practices methodology, Norway & Denmark

Website: www.kids4energy.net

Case Study (58 KB PDF)

This paper provides a brief overview of an ongoing SAVE project, Kids4energy, aiming to craft a best practices guide for energy efficiency campaigns and projects targeting children. The paper furthermore discusses the various methods, which help to establish a best practice as well as outlines possible success factors within the field of energy efficiency, presents evaluation approaches, frameworks, and research paradigms that can potentially be applied. The SAVE project is due to be finalised in 2004.

In summary, this should help to make this process visible and perhaps disseminate some ideas for similar projects. A conclusion of what is a "best practice" should be expected to be available by Autumn 2004.

The best practices guide is an integrated part of the EU project "Evaluation of EE Information, education, and Training Projects Targeted at Children and Development of Best Practices" ("Kids4Energy" for short). The process of developing the methodology described in this paper is a joint effort by the consortium and an expert team consisting of SRCI (Kirsten D. Mikkelsen, co-author on this paper), Denmark and NEE, Norway. The consortium partners are: APERe, Belgium, The Danish Organisation for Renewable Energy, Denmark, Motiva Oy, Finland, Meridiani, Italy, Centre for Sustainable Energy, England, WSBIC, France, Newark and Sherwood Energy Agency, England, O.Ö Energiesparverband, Austria, Wuppertal Institute, Germany and Norwegian Energy Ef.ciency Inc., Norway.
