Case Study: Improved public transport - Aalborg, Denmark

View the Case Study

Synopsis

During the next couple of years many activities involving public transport will be carried out. The 4 most important of these are the implementation of a new public transport plan in 2004, the opening of a local train line in 2002-2003, the introduction of Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS) in the bus fleet and at larger terminals in 2004, and the construction of a new bus terminal. The purpose of all these activities is to give public transport a better image and make it more market-orientated in order to increase the number of passengers by 2-3%. Most buses in Aalborg are low-floor buses and have an area for wheelchairs. The difference between these service buses and other buses is the number of stops, which means that elderly or disabled people in particular do not have to walk far to catch a service bus.

Target groups: public transport users - all citizens
Fields: public transport
