Case Study: Tramway network - Barcelona, Spain

Synopsis

New tramway network for Barcelona, including two major projects:

  1. "Diagonal (Francesc Macià) - Baix Llobregat": consisting of 3 new tramway lines, a total of 15.5 km serving 7 municipalities, and connecting with Renfe suburban railways and underground network with 6 changeover points.
  2. "Sant Martí - Besòs": including 2 new tramway lines, a total of 14 km serving 3 municipalities and connecting with Renfe suburban railways and underground network with 13 changeover points.

Both projects include accessibility for all people with reduced mobility, and easy access for bicycles, children's prams or push-chairs, etc., as well as integrated fares according to the existing ticketing system.
