Synopsis
Both its size and atmosphere, as well as many historical and cultural features, make the historical city centre of Ibiza a very well-suited area for pedestrians. In order to limit vehicle traffic, and promote walking in this specific zone, an important number of unused lots in the surroundings have been converted into public car parks. The areas in question have been asphalted and provided with street lighting. The car parks are free of charge and are intended to allow drivers to park and either walk to the city centre or go by public transport. Private land has also been used to create more car parkings outside the city centre. In these cases, the land has been levelled and gravelled to adapt it to car parking use. In total, the following car parks have been created to dissuade use of cars in the city centre: C/Murcia (500 spaces), C/Vicente Serra (400 spaces), C/Benident (port zone) (400 spaces), Puerto (80 spaces), Plaza de Bous (150 spaces), Ferry port area (60 spaces), Artes y Oficios (50/60 spaces), Bull ring area (100 spaces), Ronda de Juan XXIII (500 spaces), Ses Feixes area (1,200-1,500 spaces).
