In 2007 Castilla-La Mancha became a national model for the development of renewable energy sources, specifically in the field of wind and solar energy. For these sources, a strong and competitive company network has been created, reflecting the region's aims to increase the role of renewable energy within its primary energy structure.

The region is committed to developing a sustainable energy model combining diversification of energy resources, energy saving and energy efficiency measures with economic, social and technological development. One of the main requirements to achieve this has been to understand the energy needs of the territory and its structure, as well as the resources available. With a view to this, since 2003 AGECAM, the Energy Agency of Casilla-La Mancha (AGECAM), has published a Yearbook of Energy Statistics with detailed information on the consumption and production of energy in Castilla-La Mancha. The 2007 edition in Spanish with a detailed English Abstract is now available.
