Green Logistics Consultants Group aims to create a European Public-Private Sustainable Transport Partnership and to harmonise and integrate current national programs. The program will be a completely voluntary and free endeavour by the freight industry and the public environmental and/or energy agencies to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and other air pollutants.

Transport partners (carriers, shippers and manufacturers) commit to adopt fuel-saving strategies that improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To assist in this, the public agencies provides members with assistance, starting with an electronic spreadsheet tool that allows members to calculate the savings they can achieve in their fleet by making a variety of changes.

In addition the program will provide additional technical assistance as needed, recognition, and PR materials. The program will be based on best practices in the USA, Australia, Japan, Canada and several European countries.

In particular they are looking for public national and regional energy and environment agencies, organisations with a focus on sustainable transport and leading companies (transport companies, shippers as well as logistics systems manufacturers interested in joining this project.
