Universidda Complutense de Madrid Urban Consortium suggests that pursuing 'car-free' public spaces and highlighting the importance of university campuses in delivering effective urban mobility solutions based on the regular use of the bicycle as means of transportation. Their project intends to provide mutual learning grounds to explore different approaches in implementing strategies around urban campus environments.

This requires learning, adapting and implementing comprehensive solutions based on successful experiences in European cities with urban campuses and similar environments. The project aims are as follows:

• Expertise building among staff with responsibilities over the design and implementation of bicycle mobility solutions and strategies inspired on successful models.
• Benchmarking and identification of systems and specific technology fostering the daily use of bicycle as means of transportation (public transit buses and trains, rental devices, security and safety systems)
• Quantify and disseminate energy efficiency benefits (energy savings, emissions, noise reduction, etc).
• Foster local strategic public-private partnership building processes. (local district authorities, transit agencies, user associations, university authorities and departments)
• Launch dissemination and sensibilization campaigns addressed to end-users and local urban stakeholders . (seminars, press conferences and promotional materials).
