100 Communities - RES Partnership, Solar energy in Palermo - Italy
Type: CaseStudy
Abstract
A stated goal of the Campaign for Take-Off is the identification of "100 communities" aiming at 100% renewable energy supply preferably using a combination of several different technologies. A community in an urban area may be a block of buildings, a neighbourhood in a residential area or even a new district in the city. In Palermo, people are attentive to meeting the needs of the new millennium. A group of companies, for instance, have committed themselves to putting into practice the Kyoto energy objectives. The idea is to reconcile business and the environment by promoting ecological projects based on new technologies in order to generate greater savings and make a contribution to the legislative measures adopted to save the planet.
