REVIVAL - Retrofitting for environmental viability improvement of valued architectural landmarks - Belgium
Type: CaseStudy
Summary
The Revival project consortium has 14 participant contractors: 1 coordinator, 1 technical coordinator, 8 building owners and 4 experts in energy and environmental design. The main objective is to show that tertiary buildings from the post-war pre-energy conscious era, can be refurbished economically, with improvements in energy performance that lead to lower life-cycle CO2 emissions than the original buildings, or an equivalent new building. Thus refurbishment would make a significant contribution towards the EU policy of meeting the Kyoto protocol.
The EC shall fund the project up to a maximum of 36,8 % of the total estimated eligible costs.
Results
This case study was created in May 2004 at which point the project has just passed its 12 months. The results of this long duration project are expected during the implementation phase. At the moment some demonstration buildings have been undertaken and completed their design tasks.
