EPOMM - European Platform on Mobility Management

Website: www.epomm.org

EPOMM, the European Platform of Mobility Management provides a platform for:

  • authorities, companies, users and other interested persons
  • the search and exchange of information or ideas in the field of Mobility Management
  • tools, support, training, marketing in Mobility Management

The core of Mobility Management are "soft" measures (e.g. information or coordination of existing user services), which enhance the effectiveness of "hard" measures of traffic management (e.g. new bus lines or bike racks). Mobility Management tools (in comparison to "hard" measures) do not necessarily require large investments measured against their high potential to change mobility behaviour. The objective of Mobility Management is to reduce single car use.

EPOMM is funded and officially supported by the European Commission, Energy & Transport DG and Ministries of seven founding participating countries and regions (as of 1999):

  • The Netherlands
  • Flanders
  • Austria
  • France
  • The UK
  • Sweden
  • Italy
This group is due to be enlarged by other EU and EFTA countries and regions.

Representatives of the Commission and the supporting states form the Board, EPOMM's supreme advisory and controlling organ.

EPOMM is managed by partners with specific and long-standing experience of Mobility Management:

  • NEA Transport Research and Training (NL), the project co-ordinator
  • Car Free Cities/Eurocities (B)
  • Austrian Mobility Research FGM-AMOR (A)
  • Langzaam Verkeer (B)
The management is supported by its secretariat based in Brussels.

The National Focal Points (NFPs) are EPOMM's operational arms in each of the supporting countries. NFPs are involved in most activities of EPOMM and act as go-betweens for collecting and disseminating information at a national level. NFPs also broaden the network of EPOMM members. They include:

  • NEMO, Austria
  • Langzaam Verkeer, Belgium
  • CERTU, France
  • Associazione delle città italiane per la mobilità sostenibile e lo sviluppo dei trasporti, Italy
  • Vervoermanagement Nederland, The Netherlands
  • Vägverket - Swedish National Road Administration, Sweden
  • Travelwise, UK
