Synopsis

As part of the VIVALDI project Aalborg Kommune has to introduce and support a car sharing scheme. Aalborg is 1 of the 4 partners involved in the VIVALDI work package called "New forms of vehicle use and ownership". The objectives of this work package are:

  • less dependency on the car, especially at peak periods,
  • provide quality alternatives to the car and encourage their use,
  • foster a cultural climate that is receptive to alternatives to the car.

Car sharing has not been tried before in Aalborg. The scheme started early 2002 and ends in December 2005. It will be established as a private public partnership. The objective is to introduce car sharing in Aalborg and covering 1-2 car sharing stations with 4-6 vehicles. It is estimated to replace 10-25 privately owned cars.
