LETIT - Local Energy Technology Implementation
The LETIT project has developed a new toolkit aimed at empowering local authorities to develop public assets for sustainable energy.
Local authorities are owners and controllers of numerous assets with significant potential for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Many of these opportunities go unexploited, as local authorities (LAs) lack the resources to identify, evaluate and develop projects. The primary objectives of the LETIT project are to work with local authorities and other key local actors to:
- Reduce barriers to identifying and developing sustainable energy investments at a local level
- Accelerate the uptake and investment in medium to long term sustainable energy technologies that address local social and economic needs, whilst at the same time achieving specific Community, Member State and other targets.
- Develop frameworks and methodologies that may be used by local authorities across Europe to define the costs and benefits associated with new technologies
- Develop innovative models for the implementation of new technologies that minimise risk both to the local authority and to the developer
