CHP in school and sports centre in Willebadessen, Germany

The school center in Peckelsheim with primary and secondary school, junior high school, indoor swimming pool and three sports halls is by far the largest consumer of energy in the city Willebadessen.

A biogas plant equipped with cogeneration, located one kilometer away from the school, delivers heat to a district heating system.

In the project, the city of Willebadessen, the Energy agency of Nordrhein Westphalia collaborate with several SMEs including 2G Energietechnik GmbH and Bio Energie Peckelsheim GmbH & Co.

Results and impacts

The system saves a maximum of 1.400 tonnes of CO2 per annum in comparison with heating through natural gas.
