Second Interregional Thematic Seminar of POWERTY project

Energy poverty remains a considerable challenge in realising the complete decarbonisation of society in the next 30 years. Vulnerable groups are likelier to live in energy inefficient houses and lack access to renewable energies, whether it is due to lack of infrastructures or from the energy provider. Tackling this problem is a paramount objective of the EU's Green Deal Strategy and its Renovation Wave that aims to address energy poverty. It also means the revision of the two EU directives that touch upon renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Organised by AURA-EE in relation to the POWERTY project, you are invited to the webinar focusing on the EU's regulatory framework to reduce energy poverty and support the use of renewable energy. The two-day webinar will review the EU's current strategies and plans, present POWERTY projects in partners regions and provide insights for the revision of EU directives.

POWERTY in a nutshell

POWERTY is an Interreg project funded by the European Regional Development Fund, aiming to increase the penetration of renewable energies in vulnerable populations. Partners of the project are found in Spain, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and the UK. With the support of POWERTY, partners facilitate the installation of energy solutions to provide safe and clean energy for households who are likelier to suffer from energy poverty and lack infrastructure. Doing this contributes to the inclusivity of the energy transition towards achieving total decarbonisation of the society by 2050.

On the other hand, the project also stimulates the creation of renewable energy and help identify innovative technologies fitted for vulnerable groups. POWERTY wants to improve the regulatory framework regarding renewable energy for vulnerable groups and stimulate citizen participation in the green transition. Ultimately, the project will have developed a complete learning process to facilitate the transfer of knowledge from the 6 partners that will have had unique experiences and solutions to share.
